Extra tickets released for Madonna’s first concert in Abu Dhabi
Extra tickets have been released for Madonna’s first concert in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, but not all fans have reacted positively.
The concert organiser Flash Entertainment said on Tuesday that more tickets were available because extra space was left at the du Arena after a new stage was put in, and the move was good news for fans.
“Having entered the final stages of construction at the du Arena, revisions to the stage layout have allowed additional tickets to be put back onto the market. This is something that happens often globally, especially as a complex show production enters the final stages of build and configurations can be revised. It is a positive eventuality and means more fans have the chance to experience the spectacle of Madonna live in Abu Dhabi on June 3rd and 4th. We urge fans to go to www.thinkflash.ae and Virgin Megastore outlets in Dubai and Abu Dhabi to purchase.”
Not all fans agreed it was a positive move.
Madonna fan Abhiroop Sen called it “dodgy practice”.
“They have been taking everybody for a ride. They started selling tickets for the show from February 2012, and soon made public that the event is sold out on June 3. This created huge demand and they opened sales of tickets for another day – June 4.”
He’s even more annoyed that hotels and online discount retailers are selling ticket packages with hotel stays for similar prices to what he paid for only tickets when they first went on sale in February.
“I bought general admission tickets for Dh495 each. Today for the same price, they are selling Golden Circle tickets plus 5 star hotel stay… This is completely unfair to ticket holders from March.”
