”Holiday” at the 36th annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks
As our readers remember, Macy’s is ready to ignite the night once more with an unparalleled display of patriotic firepower as the 36th annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks rumbles to life over New York City.
The largest Independence Day pyrotechnic display in the U.S. returns on Wednesday, July 4 at 9 PM with an awesome spectacle of color, light and sound taking place from four barges positioned on the Hudson River.
Ignite the Night, the theme of the 36th annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks, will fire more than 40,000 pyrotechnic shells during a 25-minute synchronized display – an average of 1,600 shells launched per minute – designed in collaboration with Pyro Spectaculars by Souza.
Underscoring the rights and freedoms we all share as Americans, this year’s creative concept was an excellent example of democracy in action. Through a series of voting elements, the musical score which serves as the blueprint for the colorful explosions, came to life. Earlier this year, Macy’s launched America’s Mixtape, a referendum of musical choice which asked the nation to vote on their favorite patriotic and celebratory anthems that would be mixed into the score. From Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the U.S.A.” and Ray Charles’ “America the Beautiful,” to contemporary classics like Madonna’s “Holiday” and Taylor Swift’s “Sparks Fly,” the score to Macy’s Fireworks reflects the votes of Macy’s Facebook fans from coast-to-coast.
Here is how Madonna’s “Holiday” will be on display:
Fun, celebration and a fabulous party are the themes of this song as the fireworks ignite with multicolored stars and effects dancing to the rhythm. The dance party begins with purple and lemon Swirling Stars at the lower levels, while magenta and lemon Umbrellas burst above.
The chorus is enhanced with multicolored Kaleidoscope and Poinsettia-patterned shells, as well as the appearance of multicolored Lollipop-patterned shells.
