Madonna on Lorraine this morning
Queen of pop Madonna has admitted she doesn’t know who British boyband One Direction are.
Talking to showbiz reporter Dan Wootton, Madonna said: “That’s a pop group right?” when asked if she’d heard of the teenage super group.
The singer also admitted she longed to take a break: “Going from my movie to my record, and the Super Bowl and rehearsing for my tour, I really haven’t had a break. And you know, sometimes I think I’m superwoman and I can do it all, and right about now in the middle of my tour I’m thinking wow, maybe I should have taken a few months off.”
She added: “I’m tired”
With the newly-released TIME 100 Most Influential People list revealing British superstar Adele as one of the world’s most prominent artists, Madonna confessed she held the singer in high regard.
“I would love to meet her, I think she’s brilliant, I love her,” she revealed. “I wanted her to be in the Super Bowl with me, but I think she was having her throat problem or throat operation or something so…” And Madonna’s love for Britain doesn’t stop at Adele – the Give Me All Your Luvin’ singer admitted she yearns for London.
“I miss London. I miss riding my bike everywhere. I miss the British sense of humour.”
She continued: “I’ll be back when I come there on tour of course. I haven’t been travelling much because I’ve been working so very hard for my loyal fans in the UK.” The last time the Frozen singer was in London she picked up a Golden Globe for her movie W.E, which she wrote and directed: “It was nice to win a Golden Globe for sure,” she told Wootton.
But the real question is: will the Queen of Pop ever share her expertise and extensive knowledge of the industry with hopefuls on a reality TV show? The answer is probably not, as Madonna admitted she doesn’t even watch TV!
“I haven’t really thought about it to tell you truth and I’ve never actually seen any of those shows – I don’t watch television.”
She continued: “I don’t actually like the idea of being a judge. It’s so subjective – like what’s good and what isn’t.
I don’t know, I think perhaps we’re too obsessed with it.”
Although fans shouldn’t expect to see Madge on the panel of X Factor any time soon, we certainly can’t see her slowing down anytime soon!
