Madonna’s corset sold for 52,000$ at Christie’s today
And while we’re speaking of corsets, the green “Hanky Panky” corset from Madonna’s Blond Ambition Tour was auctioned today in London by Christie’s and sold for £32,450 ($52,000) far surpassing its original estimate of £10,000 – £15,000.
The green silked corset, designed of course by Jean Paul Gaultier in 1990, was included in the Pop culture auction held by Christie’s International at the South Kensington auction house today, November 29, and was bought by a bidder in the room, acting for an undisclosed London collector.
Also in today’s auction, a two-piece stage costume, made of a black satin bustier with top-stitched conical cups, labelled Trashy, worn underneath a black custom-made all in one suit, the lycra shorts stitched to a mesh bodice with darted cups and worn by Madonna performing “Vogue” sold for £16,250 ($26,000). Its estimate was £8,000 – £12,000.
