Far Eastern delights compiled
Warner Pioneer Corporation in Japan have never been slouches when it comes to promoting Madonna – their promotional items hold legendary affection with collectors thanks to their high quality, high diversity and generally beautiful execution.
In 1989 the Japanese heads of Warner decided it was time to collect together the biggest hits their biggest star had had and promote them to high ranking DJs and Retailers.
Simply tilted ‘1983-1989‘ the CD contained 15 tracks covering songs from the ‘Madonna’, ‘Like A Virgin’, ‘True Blue’, ‘Who’s That Girl‘ and ‘Like A Prayer‘ albums
The compilation proved highly popular as a format with the music industry to whom it was directed and following the immensely popular success of the 1990 smash hit ‘Vogue‘, they decided to re-design the package and re-compile the tracklisting to include the hit and it’s associated B-side. The new set was sensibly re-titled ‘1983-1990‘ and featured a lovely still from the ‘Oh Father‘ video on the rear.
The sets instantly became the crown jewels of the far eastern collectables and today they have maintained their collectability, regularly selling for $400-500 on the rare occasions they appear for sale.
