I display my Mini Cooper and I’m feeling Super Duper!
Ten Years ago Madonna released one of her most controversial records to date, and no, I’m not talking about
Remixes & Revisited, but about the her ninth studio album, the haunting American Life released at the end of April 2003.
In the title song Madonna raps “I drive my mini cooper and I’m feeling super duper” and probably due to
this the folks at Warner UK, who have always been amazing with the promo merchandise they created to hype
releases from the Queen of Pop, commissioned a series of very limited Mini Cooper model replicas to Corgi, the renowned brand which first started producing colourful
pressed metal toys in the 30s.
These models were given away exclusively to the lucky guests who attended the album launch party in London.
The mini cars were produced in three different colours (Black, Red and Camouflage) and there were indeed very limited.
VIPs were treated to one of the rarest ones, either one of the 24 red painted models or one of the only 20 Camouflage models.
The other selected guests were given one of the 506 black models produced. The nice thing is that each car bears
the American Life album artwork on the car’s roof and more importantly they have an individually numbered license
plate that matches a correspondingly numbered card certificate.
A few years ago I had the chance to acquire for my collection one of the black cars at what NOW seems a convenient price. I had the chance to choose among
a few plate numbers and finally I opted for #444.
As of today the value on the market for the Black Mini Cooper is about £500, while to get the Red and Camouflage ones you need to spend a way lot more!
And now, to wrap this article up, let me display my #444 Black Mini Cooper for you in the following pictures that I hope you will enjoy!
