Still Pushing The Buttons
Year after year, Madonna’s ability to push people’s buttons doesn’t seem to slow down. And her statement at the GLAAD Media Awards earlier this month is no exception.
A latest comment comes from Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who has an history as an outspoken advocate for the Boy Scouts and also authored the book, “On My Honor: Why the American Values of the Boy Scouts Are Worth Fighting For” in which he explains why the organization should adhere to its conservative values.
In a radio interview Perry agreed with his host Glenn Beck, who said Madonna’s protest at the Awards was crazy, and said:
“It’s fascinating that someone would make that kind of gratuitous shot at an organization that has probably done as much to promote young men to the type of values that the vast majority of the people in this country aspire to.”
When the Boy Scouts considered changing their policy earlier this year, Perry protested openly, saying “I think most people see absolutely no reason to change the position and neither do I.”
In his radio interview, Perry said that by in large scouts are very good citizens. Here’s a free tip for Mr. Gov.: Gay Boy Scouts would be just as good.
